DEVELOPING MOBILE LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (MLMS) BASED ON ANDROID FOR CURRICULUM LITERACY

This research on instructional innovation aims to develop an application of Mobile Learning Management System (mLMS) based on Android Honeycomb as a medium for college students to increase their master of the basic professional course, with broader access and richer content packaged in multimedia. The problem under research is “How does the development of a model mobile Learning Management System (mLMS) based on Android Honeycomb as students’ learning medium improve the quality of the teaching learning and accessibility of basic professional courses, especially for the Curriculum and Instruction course in Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia? The research adopted the development model of Thiaragajan, Sem­mel, & Semmel, consisting of “define, design, and develop.” The subjects were students taking the professional basic course of Curriculum and Instruction in the Department of Accounting Education A and Department of German Education B. The instruments used were online questionnaires and tests.The findings show: (1) The development of mobile Learning Management System (mLMS) based on Android Honeycomb was carried out through the stages of needs analysis of the model, development of conceptual framework, and development of software requirement; (2) The model of mobile Learning Management System (mLMS) based on Android Honeycomb consists of three stages, namely pre-learning activities, learning, and post learning; (3) The use of mobile Learning Management System (mLMS) based on Android Honeycomb was able to increase the learning outcomes in the course of Curriculum and Instruction in UPI. The increase can be seen in the post-test scores that were greater than the pre-test scores; and (4) Students’ responses and perceptions of the use of the application of mobile Learning Management System (mLMS) based on Android Honeycomb in the course of Curriculum and Instruction in general were good and positive.

INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN COLLABORATION OF LIBRARIANS IN THE SCHOOL LITERACY MOVEMENT

Conducting library learning activities in the classroom is one of the tasks and receivables in the Field Experience Practice (PPL) activities for all students of the Library of Education and Information Sciences University of Indonesia. Good practice research methodology is one of the alternative choices in estimating the steps that can be taken in the Field Experience Practice (PPL) program of students of the Library of Education and Information Sciences University of Indonesia, which will later become a product of collaboration between the school librarians and teachers at school, and can also present a school product design school learning product. Collaborating in the School Literacy Movement (GLS) activities is one of the bills that must be present in the program, wherein every student of the Library and Information Sciences University of Education program students is required to: 1) Be able to prepare the classroom learning collaboration design with coaching teachers, 2) Able to implement library learning practices, and 3) Able to describe Practical Review Results. Through the field experience (PPL) practice, the students of the Library of Education and Information Sciences University of Indonesia's Education program are able to obtain competencies relevant to their field in an optimal way to work in the workplace, especially in the field of school libraries.

PEMETAAN KONDISI PERPUSTAKAAN POLITEKNIK NEGERI BANDUNG BERDASARKAN PEDOMAN STANDAR AKREDITASI PERPUSTAKAAN NASIONAL

Library as one of the supporting units in college must provide good services to its customers. Therefore, a library must comply with the laws, regulations, and standards that have been made. Three institutions creating the standards of college libraries for improving the services are Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI), Perpustakaan Nasional Republik Indonesia (PNRI), and Direktorat Jendral Pendidikan Tinggi (DIKTI). Among those three institutions, PNRI should be as a reference since its assessment has the most details. Politeknik Negeri Bandung (Polban) as higher education that has been established for more than 20 years should meet PNRI standard. This study used the descriptive method to describe the condition of the library associated with   the   nine   components   in   the   accreditation guidelines which are Service, Cooperation, Collection, Organization of Library Material, Human Resources, Infrastructure Building/Room, Budget, Library Management, and Library Collection Care. The   data   was   obtained   through interviews, observation based on nine components of PNRI standard, and document analysis with the solutions. The results from this research show that Polban Library has met the two components of the nine components that are Organization of Library Material and Library Collection Care. This is because the library has implemented its activities in accordance with the guidance of the University Library Accreditation Standard set by National Library of Indonesia (SNI). Meanwhile, the other seven components have not been met yet by Polban. They need to be fixed and adjusted to the prevailing standards.

MERANCANG PEMBELAJARAN MENGGUNAKAN PENDEKATAN ADDIE UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN BERFIKIR KRITIS MAHASISWA AGAR MENJADI PUSTAKAWAN YANG BERETIKA

As a profession, a librarian has an ethic codes to be understood by librarian candidates. In the learning process, candidates or students should be introduced to the knowledge, attitude, and skills required to become a librarian. Through the learning process in the Etika Profesi Pustakawan (Professional Etiquette of Librarians) subject, students are introduced to a number of attitudes, ethics, and knowledge, prompting them to think critically in order to become a professional librarian with good etiquette. To achieve such goal, the learning process should be designed in the first place using the ADDIE approach to achieve expected results in accordance with the goals set. The present study is a review on an instructional design which can be developed to improve the quality of learning process, particularly in the efforts to enhance students’ critical thinking skill in order to become an ethical librarian. The development of the learning design employs the ADDIE approach. The ADDIE model consists of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The Analysis step is purposed to identify potential factors causing a gap in the performance. In the Design step, the expected performance is tested and assessed using proper testing method. The Development step comprises an activity to produce and validating the selected learning resources supporting the learning process. The Implementation step comprises the preparation of learning environment and the involvement of the students. At last, the Evaluation step is done to evaluate the quality of the learning process and products, both before and after the implementation of the program. Through ADDIE model approach, a learning program will be designed, aiming at improving students’ critical thinking ability in order to become an ethical librarian.

KAJIAN SITASI KARYA ILMIAH DOSEN FIKOM UNPAD DALAM SKRIPSI MAHASISWA: ANALISIS SITASI KARYA ILMIAH DOSEN DALAM SKRIPSI MAHASISWA PADA DATABASE GDL DI FIKOM LIBRARY AND KNOWLEDGE CENTER (FLKC) UNIVERSITAS PADJADJARAN PADA SEMESTER GENAP TAHUN 2011

This study aims to determine the citation analysis of scientific papers of undergraduate theses of students of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, University of Padjadjaran during the Even Semester of the Academic Year 2011. This study aims to determine the characteristics (shape, author / sources, language) which are frequently cited in scientific papers, publications of source of information, the frequency of citations of scientific papers and the development of Communication Information Science and Library Studies based on distribution subject of the cited references. The population studied is 227 titles of undergraduate theses from 4 departments (Journalism, Public Relations, Management Communication & Library and Information Science). The population consists of 7089 citations. The results showed that the students appear to scientific papers from the Faculty of Communication’s lecturers. Especially those published in book form. The scientific papers of the Faculty of Communication’s lecturers are not yet cited in proper proportion. Besides that, there are students who still cite from private blogs. In general, student’s skill to cite is still below standard. The study recommended the socialization of scientific products of Faculty of Communication’s lecturers. A guide to standardization of bibliography writing is highly recommended.

MENEJEMEN SUMBER DAYA MANUSIA DI PERPUSTAKAAN

The era in which the exstense of ICT brings with it enlightenment in every aspect of life changes of paradigms in libraries exists. The change includes a transfer in system – from conventional type of services to ICT-based services with some orientation for the sake of users’ needs. The innovations taking place in libraries are influenced by 10 issues: "... a) the presence of electronic paper, b) new publishing model, c) on-line bookstore, d) e-commerce, e) digital television, f) integrated learning environment , g) remote university, h) mobile communication, i) print-on-demand, j) the threat og the unknown". The change in paradigms leads to manajerial which formely management bound to merely build and develop library collection, product-oriented services of information to ICT-based services management. Three major ICT-based services comprise human resources and non human resources, proactive kind of services and users empowerment. Accordingly, libraries an entitiy need to be managed bt human resources with managerial competence (leading, planning, organizing dan controlling), bibliograpical and library technological know-how, human relation skill, ability to work in team, elite type of conduct, elegance and intelligence, being ordered, ordered, school curriculum, writing competency, publishing, users needs, work partnership, ability of reading publisher’s catalog both printed and online, desoiderata, budgeting, statistics, accesion list, registration book, classification, catalouging both manually and in an electronic mode, indexing, writing an abstract, accessories, shelving, binding, fumigation, camouflaging, and others), services competency, users-oriented services, users empowering, wide horizons, expertise in one field of dicipline, knowledge of principles and techniques in guidance and counseling, social sciences, psychology and culture, library technological know-how, communication skill, human resources skill, emphaty, attractive appearance, fair, helpful, information and science know-how, form-making skil, flow charts of services, organizing materials, guides/labels, rules and policy, correspondency, shelving,PERPUSTAKAAN reporting/evaluating/statistic, punishment, how to use library education, simple general infromation, good sense of media, answeing reference questions skill, helping people to obtain information through face to face contact, assistance to readers in searching information, bibliographical searching/service, and competency and ICT (the use of hardware and implementing of all softwares on all operational activities in the library). The competency of human development at schools/madrasah should refer to Act #43/2007 on Library and the Ministry Regulations #25/2008 on Standard of School Librarians.

PENGEMBANGAN ONLINE PUBLIC ACCESS CATALOG (OPAC) BERBASIS ANDROID PADA PERPUSTAKAAN UPN “VETERAN” JAKARTA

Abstract. UPN "Veteran" Jakarta Library wants to keep abreast of information technology development that can improve library quality. Smartphone with android operating system nowadays is one of knowing information technology that developed rapidly. The advantages of smartphones using android operating system is the ability to run multiple applications simultaneously, ease of access, and has a relatively cheap price with a lot of functions. The UPN "Veteran" JakartaLibrary currently has limitations in providing a collection search facility due to the less roomy space, the cost of electricity, and also the ergonomics of the device. Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) or that can be known byonline catalog is a useful facility for the user and library in providing the means. Development OPAC withandroid-basedis expected to provide solutions to problems that can help users and also UPN "Veteran" JakartaLibrary in providing excellent service. In this research article will be presented about the stages of OPAC with android-bases development in UPN "Veteran" Jakarta Library by using System Development Life Cyle (SDLC) method. From the result of the research, it is concluded that thedevelopment of OPAC with android-bases in UPN "Veteran" Jakarta Library has been able to provide ten parameters of OPAC third generation. With the android-based OPAC is expected to help the user infinding the collection with the limitations of the search facilities provided by UPN "Veteran" Jakarta as well as providing variations in searching collection at OPAC library UPN "Veteran" Jakarta.Keywords: Development, OPAC, Android
